World War One Records

Military records from the First World War can be accessed on Ancestry.com, Fold 3 and Find My Past. Records of those who have died in conflicts can also be found on the free site, Commonwealth War Graves Commission at https://www.cwgc.org/. This is an excellent site and includes conflicts other than just the First World War.

What is available on Ancestry are the soldier's military records: from signing up to the service right up to their leaving date. They also contain their personal information (such as age, family status, physical description, addresses) and achievements. Not all records are available, however,  as some where lost in a fire in the Second World War.

Fold 3 -which can also be accessed through Ancestry- also has information of medal rolls and medical records of military personnel. This is USA site. It also has records from other conflicts.

Find My Past also holds a few military records and you can search by using a military number to find records.
